The 100% free-to-read August issue of Thirteen1 is available now, featuring more reviews, previews and original features than you can shake a C.O.G Lancer's chainsaw at!

Perhaps unsurprisingly, August's cover star is StarCraft II, the sequel to Blizzard's genre-defining RTS, which has finally burst onto the scene after 12 years of agonising anticipation. But does T1's self-confessed fan-boy think it was worth the wait? And just what did he get up to at the midnight launch event in London? You'll find the answer to both right here in the latest issue.

The upcoming Nintendo 3DS is the talk of gaming-town right now, so Thirteen1 decided it was high time to get hands-on with the device themselves. The DrunkenGamer brings you his honest report of just how effective the handheld console is, as well as his take on some of the games you can expect to play on it. All in mind-boggling 3D!
He also got the chance to look at some of the titles shaping the Wii's future, including Metroid Prime: Other M, Donkey Kong Country Returns, GoldenEye 007, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and more. So much gaming goodness..and T1's got it all covered for you.

In fact, this month's issue of Thirteen1 is packed with reviews and previews, from Frima's surprisingly polished PSN title, Young Thor, to a hands-on with FunCom's latest MOBA (that's Massive Online Battle Arena, if you didn't know), Bloodline Champions, and a full tilt look at Youda Games fascinating casual poker game sequel, Governor of Poker II. It's poker 'and' a proper game!
Downloadable games are well and truly kicking ass at the moment, what with arty-puzzler Limbo and the superbly titled DeathSpank showing everyone how it should be done. But which is best? And what about extreme speedboat racer Hydro Thunder Hurricane? T1 has the answers for you.

As usual, T1 features a 13-1 countdown of important gaming topics, and this month's look at gamings most controversial curveball moments is sure to cause a stir. Check it out now to see if you agree with their number 1 choice.
You can also see what happened when the guys at Project TriForce sent Thirteen1 one of their brand new replica C.O.G Lancers – a 15 pound beast that looks and feels so realistic, you'd be forgiven for getting carried away and trying to chainsaw your friends in half. N.B. The T1 crew did just that...

Throw in a comprehensive round-up of ComicCon's best bits; Mrs DrunkenGamer's anticipated return with a preview of We Sing Encore (she can sing. The T1 chaps really, really can't); reviews of top gaming soundtracks; a Mario-splashed retro corner; a huge feature on how you can break into the industry; and more; and you've got plenty to sink your teeth into this month.

Oh, and don't forget to search for T1's Badger mascot, who's hidden himself on one of the magazine pages. There's a rather awesome Nerdoh.co.uk t-shirt in it for you!

Thirteen1 2nd Anniversary Issue Out Now
Today marks the exciting 2 year anniversary of Thirteen1 magazine.

Since they began on April 13th, 2008, Thirteen1 have published 24 (with today's brand new issue being the 25th!) entirely free-to-read, online-based, multi-format magazines, rammed with content and awesome competitions that you can enter at the click of a mouse.

No anniversary issue would be complete without a look back on the year that was, and this month's edition doesn't disappoint with T1's special anniversary feature, where they take a massive swig of nostalgia-aid and look back on some of their best bits of the last 12 months. It's a handy summary of a year of gaming, with some words from the T1 members who put the mag out for free every month.
You never know, you might be so touched by it all that you have the sudden urge to send them a gift. Ehm..

Speaking of gifts, this month saw Thirteen1's resident DrunkenGamer get sent a mighty Runes of Magic statue. That's right, a statue! The guys at Frogster sent them an 18inch Demon Lord figure to put together for their display shelf. Check out the DrunkenGamer's feature now for pictures of the figure and to find out how the assembly went (somebody 'may' have glued themselves to something...)

Birthday celebrations aside, there is still the small matter of a whole month's worth of gaming to cover. To kick it off in style, Thirteen1 teamed up with Iceberg and Zoetrope to bring an exciting, exclusive first-look at Darkness Within 2: Dark Lineage! This point-and-click horror/adventure, based on H.P Lovecraft's work, is set to send the shivers up your spine this summer. Be sure to browse their early impressions of the upcoming game.

This April issue also sees T1 tackle the sword-slashing Red Steel 2, the creepy Still Life 2, gPotato's highly addictive Canaan Online, Go3's browser-based sleeper-hit Terrorism Warfare and the almost too-good-to-be-true Metro 2033. Is Metro 2033 a surprise early contender for game of the year?

As always, Thirteen1 have made sure to cover gaming's most important conferences, which really heated up recently with more news released on Codework's GameHorizon 2010, the Nordic Games Conference and the Festival of Games. Definitely set to be some of the most essential gaming events of the year, T1 round up all you need to know about them. Our advice: book your tickets ASAP.
There was also the small matter of a certain GDC to deal with. True to form, they have listed their top 13 picks from the entire event.

Throw in an hilarious 13-1 countdown, where the Thirteen1 guys rate the 13 best gaming characters to share a drink with, loads more reviews (including a selection of fine retro titles), previews and features, and of course the regular gaming-music reviews and Breakin Into the Industry special with Microsoft's Rob Miles' exclusive XNA tutorial videos, and you have yet another cracking issue of T1 to tuck into.

Comps and Giveaways!
Have Thirteen1 got a corker for you this month..

Unfortunately the guys at Blizzard were unable to deliver the promised StarCraft 2 Q&A, thanks to development on the massively anticipated upcoming game intensifying. However, as a superb way of apology, they have offered a bundle of super-rare Blizzard goodies to giveaway to Thirteen1 readers! This not only includes a collectors edition of Wrath of the Lich King, but also comes with a bunch of items you simply cannot buy anywhere. Jump here to check it out now.

Of course there's also the regular retro-gaming blow out, courtesy of T1's good friends at Gog.com.

Enjoy the issue!

Thirteen1 January Issue Out Now!
Thirteen1 January Issue Out Now!

http://www.thirteen1.com/Issues/mag.php go here now to skip the below text and dive straight into the January edition of Thirteen1

It seems we're all carrying a little Christmas cheer into January after the recent “deep freeze” - and as a gamer, why wouldn't you be happy? Q1 2010 is finally here!

When you see the fantastic calendar of upcoming games, it's easy to find something to get excited about. This is going to be like Christmas round 2, only with better presents, less socks, and no need to buy anything for anybody else. Bring it on!

Considering the amount of gaming goodness we're about to be battered with, Thirteen1 have put together a handy round-up of the 13 games they are looking forward to the most. We all know that Q1 2010 is going to be a time for wise purchases, so this should help.
Of course, no self-respecting games publication can end a decade of gaming without looking back on it, so this month's Thirteen1 has a, sure to be controversial, countdown of the best games of the Naughties. This was hard to choose..almost too hard. Be sure to check which game they voted the best of the entire decade! There's guaranteed to be one or two surprise entries in there..

Following the recent merging of browser-based games company Wizard Productions (formerly Go3 Media), T1 decided to take to the streets of Mafia Corruption, their free2play mafia MMO, to see what all the fuss is about. Discover why BBG experts think this ranks as one of the best on the market.

The Drunken Gamer has been at it again, stumbling from one game to another with a drink and computer mouse in hand. This month, the self-confessed 'trekkie' finally got the chance to go hands-on with the beta of Star Trek Online. Does it really have what it takes to please both fans of the series and hardcore MMO'ers?

While taking a break from tackling the depths of space in his spaceship, the Drunken Gamer was also invited back to Frogster's swashbuckling Bounty Bay Online. The January issue of Thirteen1 has Part 2 of the cracking Beyond the Horizon tour, along with a bunch of rare pets to giveaway too!

Fancy a proper scare? Then look no further than Jonathan Boakes' latest horror adventure game, Dark Fall: Lost Souls. Thirteen1 finally get hands-on with the sequel to the spooky Dark Fall: Lights Out, once again returning to the eerie Dowerton train station. A great way to follow up on their interview with Mr. Boakes in the December issue. They did review from it behind the couch, mind...

With a massive Global Agenda feature, a superb Q&A with the geniuses behind Cletus Clay, free comps and giveaways and so much more, the Jan issue of free-to-read Thirteen1 is well worth the cover price (er..).

Enjoy the issue!
