Welcome to the 1st issue of the W.E. News Letter!
September has been a month full of progress and excitement. We produced two brand new trailers this month, the concept art and screenshots sections have been updated, a new wallpaper was released, and a book is being written in our forums!
The Austin GDC kicked off on the 15th and went through to the 17th. We met quite a few very cool people, and took full advantage of the opportunity to tell other developers about our game. We may have even found a couple of new developers for our Austin Studio... woot!
Development on Warrior Epic is proceeding smoothly and I have been really impressed with some of the new features and content being put into the game. The Pit Fighter has seen some pretty sick gear falling into his arsenal lately, so I hooked him up and shot some screens for this newsletter, check em out!

Jeremy and I worked diligently with the community and our sound guys: GL33k (Theatrical Trailer Music/Sound Design, Features Trailer Sound Design), Matt Holle (Features Trailer Music), and Chris Sabat (Voiceover) this month to produce two new trailers for Warrior Epic.
The Cinematic Trailer has some beautiful art and really gets the blood boiling when you watch it. We put this trailer on our PSPs when we hit the Austin GDC and it looked fantastic (great idea Jeremy).
A Features Trailer was also produced that really explains how Warrior Epic is different from other games in a similar genre. This trailer even shows off a bit of footage from the Dev, including a new boss and some of the badass gear that has been created for the Pit Fighter.
We received a tremendous amount of help from our community when shooting footage for these trailers and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated. If you are interested in working with us on future productions, keep an eye on the forums or idle IRC/Vent as we are constantly doing things that require help from you guys. So, thanks again, and great job everyone!

Let's sit down and have a chat with one of the community leaders, g33k1337o7. I will ask her extremely important questions pertaining to life and death, and you can read her responses in dire suspense!

Sr. Mod - Forums
Question I. How do you pronounce your name?
geek leet 07, as in geek-elite-2007. 2007 is the year I graduated High School. I've had the user name for about 6 years now, and I'm too used to it to use anything else (pretty much comes down to the fact that I'm lazy :P ). Just call me Jen, its easier.
Question II. What do you do in the Warrior Epic Community?
Well, I always make sure I read every forum post made, make sure people aren’t breaking rules, the regular forum moderator duties. I also make sure that the community is staying active and that they always have someone to talk to. I love talking to the community about sports or the newest video game in the Quad or in IRC. I don’t treat our community as just a bunch of people who happen to play the same game, I try to get to know them as people, and it brings the community closer together.
There are also a lot of things that I do that the public can’t see, but are still very necessary. Things like emailing new websites, telling them about WE and getting new interviews, sending out 100 emails a week to help spread the word of our game, and trying to keep the guides and my moderators happy as well as coordinated.
Usually little projects pop-up through the week, like this newsletter or the Warrior Weekend, and I help move those things along as fast as I can. I do anything that people need me to do, more or less.
Question III. I noticed that an Octopus Rabbit was featured in this months newsletter. Now, being a semi-bipedal amphibious rabbit with a mouth that stretches from end to end.. you would think that it would not taste all that great. However, if you were stranded on an island with no source of food other than Octopus Rabbits, Collard Greens, Fresh Water, and Every Spice Known to Man... what dish would you prepare for yourself?
Who said it would taste bad? Rabbits taste good, calamari tastes good, the two of them in one animal can't be half bad. But back to your question, I would make some Octopus Rabbit Stew. First you fill a pot with the water, collard greens, a little old bay (always a good spice to use with seafood), maybe a dash of garlic powder, some ground bay leaves, and parsley (I've decided that every spice known to man also includes herbs). After letting that simmer for a bit, you throw in some cubed Octopus Rabbit that has been grilled for a few minutes. Let it cook in the pot, covered, for about an hour. Bon Appetit : ) .... Now I'm hungry ; )
Question IV. Now imagine that you are still on that island and you stub your toe... REALLY bad (your bone is showing), what would you do?
First I would swear a lot, then mumble some, then swear a little more, with some jumping around mixed in for good measure. Then maybe I'd just cut it off, cauterize the wound, and get on with my life. Maybe I'd even put it in the stew if I got bored of Octopus Rabbit. ... okay, that was a bit weird, lets move on.
Question V. I just found an old boot with the words "i r teh aw3some" carved into the leather just above the heel. Any idea who it belongs to?
Well, I r teh aw3some, but I'm not big into boots (sandles feel so much better)...Someone must be going around pretending to be me, even going so far as to carve it into a boot. Where did you find it? I have to look into this case of stolen identity.
Thank You Jen! We all love having you around, and now that I know you can cook Octopus Rabbit Stew, I may have to bring you along on my next sea voyage... just in case!

Our Closed Beta Tester of the Month, Eugen a.k.a. hat0r19, has spent quite a bit of time with our game in its infancy state. I decided to pick his brain a bit and see what it is, exactly, that keeps him coming back to Warrior Epic. Since Eugen is Romanian, I have decided to use Romanian numbers for the questions.
Eugen a.k.a. hat0r19 + GF Alina
CB Tester of the Month
Question Unu: Eugen, I see you quite often in the CB, Where did you learn about Warrior Epic?
Since I am romanian I found Warrior Epic while searching for a new MMORPG on my favorite mmo site http://mmog.ro. As soon as I registered on Warrior Epic.com, I checked hour to hour to see if my account had been promoted to CB tester. One thing I regret is that I hadn't found about this game earlier, but I finally got in and I LOVE IT!
Question Doi: We are glad that you love Warrior Epic, what is your favorite thing about the game?
What I like most about this game is the graphic engine and the game itself. It has team play, a very supportive community with educated people, a nice fair PvP system, a good damage system and last but not least, the Pit Fighter class.

Question Trei: If you had the chance to become a creature or warrior from Warrior Epic in real life, which would you be and why?
I'm trying to become a Pit Fighter (bodybuilder) that specializes in keyboards and mice (since I'm a computer science student).
Question Patru: We have held some strange contests in our forums in the past, such as the "favorite food" contest. What is your favorite food?
I love eating pizza made at my favorite restaurant with my girlfriend Alina and my other friends izomorfix and spellcaster. All of them are active Warrior Epic players.
Question Cinci: If you were able to add a single feature to the game, what would it be?
It's difficult to say because there are alot of features being developed for the Open Beta. After viewing the new teaser and the features movies, it seems that there will be even more than I expected. You guys are going one heck of a job and keep it up.
Eugen I'm glad that I got a chance to talk to you in person. Let me know when you smash your first junglepede with a mouse and keyboard (please take a pic too... before and after). Thanks for taking the time and I look forward to you destroying me in some PvP matches!

If your warriors fall in battle, you will be faced with a choice.
Bring them back from the spirit realm so that they may fight amongst the flesh once again.
When a Warrior dies, their spirit will reside in your hall's spirit sanctuary. You may go to this sanctuary and, for a fee comprised of loot earned on the battlefield, you will be able to bring them back to the land of the living. That is, however, not your only choice.
Keep your fallen warriors in their spirit form and summon them in their ethereal state to unleash a devestating attack
All of your warriors have spirits, and their spirits grow in strength with their physical bodies. Prior to embarking on a quest, you will be able to equip up to three spirits on the warrior that you are taking into battle. That warrior will then have the ability to summon those spirits while on the quest. The summon will rain hell down on your foes, or buff your party... depending on the level and type of warrior spirit you use. Spirits will have bigger and more powerful attacks based on their level. However, this is still not the last option you have in the event of an untimely demise.
Infuse your warrior spirits into your equipment.
Here it is... your third and final option. This new feature will enable you to take your weapons and equipment to a whole new level. For example, there is a fist weapon for the Pit Fighter known as the "Vampire's Bite". The base stats for this weapon consists of piercing damage and a small chance to soul steal (drain health from your enemy and give it to yourself). The Vampire's Bite has 4 spirit slots, each representing a different stat... Piercing Damage, Bleeding, Soul Steal, and Attack Speed.
When you augment a weapon with spirits, you can only apply a single spirit to one slot. The amount that the spirit fills that slot is determined by the level of the spirit (a level 50 spirit would completely fill the slot in this case, whereas a level 1 spirit would hardly move it at all).
The stat increase given by a slot is done in increments (10 spirit levels in this case). So, when you infuse a level 10 spirit into the Bleeding stat slot, that stat will increase. This weapon, once maxed out, will also add a cosmetic attribute that gives its wielder bloody footprints (pure awesome).
Okay, now you have to wonder... You have this badass weapon that is lightning fast, has a huge chance to steal your opponents soul, its so pointy that you literally pierce atoms when you thrust it through the air, the poor recipient of the business end of this thing will bleed to death in seconds, and everywhere you walk you leave a trail of fresh bloody footprints. This death dealing weapon from hell requires a skilled wielder to reap its benefits, so slapping it on a level 1 Pit Fighter and sending him into battle could lead to an accident. For his safety and the safety of those around him, he will not benefit fully from the potential of a maxed out Vampire's Bite. It would take a seasoned vet of at least 50 levels to display the skill and prowess necessary to use such a weapon. So don't think that you can take this calamity into a low level PvP match on your noob warrior and wreak havoc on all.... not yet grasshopper.
Well, that wraps up the first Warrior Epic Newsletter, I hope that you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed making it. I look forward to seeing you in game and in the community meeting grounds (Foums/IRC/Vent). Have a fantastic day!
